Landfill Tipping Fee Waiver - Morgan Johnson Creek

Action Requested

Authorization for the Chairman to waive the County Landfill tipping fees in the amount of approximately $3,050.00 by permitting the contractor for the Morgan Johnson Creek Stormwater Sediment Removal Project to haul the sediment from Morgan Johnson Creek to the County Landfill for use as daily cover material which will offset purchase and use of other daily cover  purchased annually by Landfill Operations.

Background Discussion
  • August 24, 2012, the BCC approved a Pilot Stormwater Discharge Maintenance Program.  The program objective is to clean sediment at each of the stormwater outfall pipes discharging into any public navigational channel.

  • The specs and plans for Morgan Johnson Creek are currently in Purchasing and should be advertised within the next couple weeks.  It is anticipated that approximately 50 cubic yards of sediment will be removed.  This sediment will be dewatered in order to pass the paint filter test before transporting to the landfill.
