Action Requested

Authorization for the Executive Director, or designee, to execute License Agreement #17-193 with The Xernona Clayton Foundation, Inc., for a luncheon at the Powel Crosley Estate on Saturday, August 26, 2017, which does not conform with Rate Resolution R-15-106 in that there is no charge for facility rent or bartenders.

Background Discussion
  • Xernona Clayton Brady is an American civic rights leader and is listed in the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame.  Along with many honors, Dr. Clayton serves on many boards and is the Founder, Creator, and Executive Producer of the Trumpet Awards – a prestigious event highlighting African American accomplishments and contributions.
  • The free use of the Crosley Estate is part of an initiative package with the Bradenton Area Film Commission.  It includes the showing of the documentary “The Life of Dr. Xernona Clayton” at the Manatee Performing Arts Center with pre- and post-event activities.
  • The luncheon at the Crosley Estate will bring guests from around the globe and they will spend up to three nights at Zota on Longboat Key in Manatee County.
