Fee Waiver - Off Site Parking for Cortez Fishing Festival

Authorization for the Parks and Natural Resources Department to facilitate and waive fees for the use of open space near the flotilla building at G.T. Bray Park, to allow off-site parking for MCAT bus service to then transport people to the Cortez Fishing Festival from February 14 - 15, 2015. In accordance with the provision of Resolution R-14-173, waiving facility fee for special events in county parks.
The Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage hosts the annual Cortez Fishing Festival at Cortez Village, which attracts approximately 25,000 participants.
The open space near the flotilla building at G.T. Bray Park is available for use and would not interfere with any scheduled activities in the park on February 14 - 15, 2015.
The MCAT bus service will be transporting people from G.T. Bray Park to the Cortez Fishing Festival from February 14 - 15, 2015.
In previous years, the Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage has requested a full discount of fees and an agreement made with the understanding that Manatee County would be a partner of the event.
The Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage has once again requested a 100% discount. In accordance with Resolution R-14-173, Board approval is required and staff recommends approval.
