Waiver of Tipping Fees - City of Anna Maria Annual Cleanup

Action Requested
Authorization for waiver of tipping fees at the Lena Road Landfill for solid waste and tire disposal for the City of Anna Maria's annual cleanup to be held March 18, 2017.

Goal 9.3, Solid Waste Sub-Element of the Comprehensive Plan.

Background Discussion
  • Solid Waste staff received a request for waiver of tipping fees related to solid waste disposal for the annual cleanup from the City of Anna Maria. The City's contact person is George McKay, 941-708-6130.
  • The waiver is requested for tipping fees only. The City of Anna Maria has made arrangements for hauling of solid waste and tires for this event through Waste Management.
  • The estimated amount of solid waste is thirty (30) tons and one (1) ton of tires.
  • Cost estimate: 30 tons of solid waste x $40/ton tipping fee = $1,200; 1 ton of tires x $86/ton = $86. Total loss of revenue $1,286.
