ASPCA Grant for Equipment and Training for Animal Cruelty Investigations

Action Requested

Adoption of Resolution R-17-020 to accept grant funding from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the amount of $10,000, and adoption of Budget Resolution B-17-030.

Enabling/Regulating Authority

R-10-099 - Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County, Florida, implementing a formal grants administration policy and providing an effective date.

Background Discussion

This grant is awarded to Animal Services for the purpose of purchasing equipment and additional training to improve cruelty investigations by Manatee County Animal Services.

Funding as follows:

  • $3000 for 15 cameras
  • $7000 for training and travel expenses to offerings by NACIS (Professional and Advanced Investigator course), UF Forensic Science Programs, and IVFSA (2017 conference).
