Grant from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program

Authorization for the Board of County Commissioners to accept a grant from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program in the amount of $3,505.20, and authorization for the Director of the Neighborhood Services Department to execute the grant agreement, and adoption of Budget Resolution B-15-039 allocating the funds to align revenues and expenditures.
The Manatee County Public Library system has been awarded a $3,505.20 Mini-Grant for "The Waterway Book to Action" project from the Tampa Bay Estuary Program.
Funds will be used for a program centered around youth (Pre-K through 12 years of age), including story times and book discussions revolving around environmental education, awareness and action.
The youth will participate in a workshop on Ecosystems and attend a Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) show called the MOSI Marine Gang. Older students will also attend a Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium program on estuaries.
At the conclusion of the project the older students will take part in a 3 hour shoreline clean-up of debris and exotic invasive plant species at the Emerson Point Preserve.
