Action Requested

Acceptance of donation of $4,285 from the Robinson Preserve Fit2Run Twilight 5K Run, from Fit2Run to be used by the Natural Resources Department at Robinson Preserve, and adoption of Budget Resolution B-13-067 amending the annual budget of Manatee County, Florida, for fiscal year 2012-2013.

Background Discussion

On March 29, 2013, the Robinson Preserve Fit2Run Twilight 5K Run was held at Robinson Preserve, the County-owned facility located at 1704 99th St. W., with a post-race dinner and reception held on the lawn of the Valentine House.  Over 1,445 adult runners participated in the 5K race event, with over 140 youth participants in a fun run leading up to the race itself.  Additionally, there was an estimated 200 family members and guests of the runners present.   After expenses, the event raised $4,285 which will be donated back to the Preserve.  The donation to Robinson Preserve will be used to benefit visitor experiences, providing services at our visitor center, interpretive material, and/or educational signage.
