Adoption of Resolution R-16-134 authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services, for expansion of the Braden River Library.
Florida Statute 257
The Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services, provides state funds (up to $500,000) to governments to construct public libraries. Funds are awarded on a dollar-for-dollar match of the grant amount to selected governments after evaluation of applications postmarked on or before September 1, 2016. The Legislature determines the amount appropriated annually for the program. The grants may be used for new or proposed expansion of existing library facilities.
The grant application is to expand and renovate the existing Braden River library, which serves a rapidly expanding population. If awarded, staff will return to the Board for acceptance of the grant funds and to identify the remaining match fund requirements.
An architect has been hired to provide the engineering/architectural services required to complete the facility feasibility study/schematic design.
