Background Discussion
  • On November 12, 2002, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. R-02-285 which incorporated findings based on a blight study for the establishment of 14th Street West community redevelopment area.
  • On January 7, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners voted to authorize County staff to prepare the necessary documents to dissolve the existing 14th Street West community redevelopment area and establish a new Southwest County Improvement District.  On June 3, 2014, the Commission adopted Ordinance No. 14-28 creating the District effective October 1, 2014.
  • Dissolving the community redevelopment area requires Manatee County to repeal and rescind Resolution No. R-02-285, terminate the blight study for the area, and revoke the findings with regard to 14th Street West community redevelopment area.  Attached is a copy of Resolution No. R-14-158 which has been noticed for public hearing by the Board of County Commissioners.
