Manatee County Government Economic Development Incentive Program
The current Manatee County Economic Development Program was adopted on April 21, 2009, providing incentives for certain targeted industries based on the number of jobs created, the wage of those jobs, and significant capital investment in Manatee County.
The Southwest District (Southwest Tax Increment Financing District) was established through Ordinance No. 14-28 on June 3, 2014, to provide a financing mechanism to pay a portion of the costs of redevelopment within the district.
In an effort to increase investment and job creation in the Southwest District, incentives are being evaluated to stimulate business expansion and retention and to attract new companies to the area.
The presentation will review the current economic development program and provide concepts for incentives that could be provided in the Southwest District. Staff will provide an overview of next steps required for implementation.
An inclusive economic development initiative will be introduced and an update on the refocused community policing strategy will be discussed.
