The U.S. Department of Justice who enforces ADA regulations governing state and local government services (Title II) and public accommodations (Title III).

Background Discussion
  • 2016-2018 Property Management assessed ADA compliance of Parks, Playgrounds, Beaches, Boat Ramps and Libraries.
  • A comprehensive ADA Transition Plan was never created.
  • The Department of Justice requires Manatee County to:
    • Have an inclusive evaluation of its policies, programs, and facilities.
    • Use these evaluations to determine if individuals with disabilities may have restricted access to programs, services, and activities offered by Manatee County.
  • The ADA Transition Plan will identify modifications for facilities, public rights-of-way, and programs for guaranteed accessibility. This plan will be a guide for planning and implementing accessibility initiatives.
