Action Requested
Authorization to remove uncollectable accounts for ambulance user fees, totaling $3,192,932.29 for January 2019 through September 2019.

Background Discussion
Manatee EMS responds to approximately 62,000 calls for service each year. Of these, EMS transports approximately 34,000 patients to local hospitals. Accounts deemed uncollectable for January 2019 through September 2019 total $3,192,932.29. All uncollectable accounts have been sent to Professional Recovery Consultants, Inc. (PRC) for further collection efforts. Eighty-four percent of the uncollectable accounts are patients that are uninsured or under-insured.
