Authorization to award a purchase order to Ten 8 Fire Equipment Inc. for three Braun Super Chief ambulances in the not to exceed amount of $971,949.00 utilizing the Florida Sheriffs Association Contract No. FSA18-VEF13.0.

Background Discussion
On May 4, 2018 the Florida Sheriff's Association issued a contract with Ten-8 Fire Equipment, Inc. for Fire Rescue Vehicles and Other Equipment. The contract is valid from May 4, 2018, through March 31, 2020. The authorization staff is presenting to the Commission is for the purchase of three ambulances for a not-to-exceed total amount of $971,949.00.

Manatee County EMS responds to approximately 52,000 calls for service, and transports 34,000 patients to area hospitals. Ambulances utilized must conform to Federal and State standards and are subject to inspections on a random basis. Specification items include emergency lighting, horns, siren, vehicle markings, collision standards, stretcher, stretcher mounting equipment, oxygen distribution system, medical supplies, and medications. All Manatee County ambulances conform to these standards.  Reference Florida Statute 401 and Florida Administrative Code (rule) 64-J.  Florida law directs ambulance specifications to Federal specifications.  These ambulances will replace three units that have reached the end of their useful life.
