Action Requested
  • Execution of Donation Agreement with JDL Development II, LLC.


Enabling/Regulating Authority

Background Discussion
  • On July 26, 2016, the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners ("Board") executed and Interlocal Agreement ("ILA") regarding Wetland Mitigation Activities between Sarasota County and Manatee County.
  • University Station (the site of the retail store known as "Whole Foods") was developed on the southwest corner of University Parkway and Honore Avenue adjacent to the border of Sarasota and Manatee County.
  • The Bidwell Tract is approximately 40 acres within the Rye Preserve that is being donated to Manatee County as part of the ILA.
  • The Parks and Natural Resources Department wishes to accept the conveyance of the Bidwell Tract as the land is contiguous to Manatee County's Rye Preserve.
  • Upon execution by the Board of the Donation Agreement that is the subject of this agenda, the Property Acquisition Division will coordinate the real estate closing with the developer to ensure fee simple ownership of the Bidwell Tract.
