Chapter 125 Florida Statutes.
The Parrish Foundation, Inc., beginning in 2009, has had a lease agreement for the old Parrish School site. The Parrish Foundation, Inc., has requested that Manatee County convey the property to the foundation so that they can further enhance and develop the property for the citizens in the Parrish area.
On October 7, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners accepted and recorded a Quitclaim Deed from the School Board of Manatee County for the Old Parrish School House. This action will convey the property to the Parrish Foundation, Inc.
In October 2007, the School Board of Manatee County transferred the Parrish School located at 7006 122nd Ave. East, Parrish, to Manatee County for continued public use. At the time, the property was utilized by Parrish Headstart, Parrish Rural Health Department, and Parrish Fire Department. The property was transferred to Manatee County through a Special Warranty Deed, which included a clause for the property to transfer back to the School Board should the property cease to be used for purposes serving the public benefit for the citizens of Manatee County. The Quitclaim Deed accepted by the Board of County Commissioners removed the reverter clause from the Special Warranty Deed issued in 2007.
The Lease Agreement between The Parrish Foundation, Inc., and Manatee County for a period of five (5) years, commencing September 1, 2009, and ending on August 31, 2014, was not renewed in anticipation of considering conveying the property. The Parrish Foundation, Inc., had the right to sublease portions of the property to the YMCA for the purpose of operating components of the program.
