Florida Statute, Section 125.25, Powers and Duties of County Government
Manatee County Ordinance No. 2-24
Braden River Little League, Inc., is a long standing, established league of volunteers, whom through many years have helped in establishing a baseball complex at Braden River Park through donations of labor, construction and materials.
April 2006 - Braden River Little League contacted the Parks and Recreation Department regarding a structural fire in the concession portion of the facility.
September 26, 2006 - The department moved forward with an agenda item to the Board of County Commissioners to request a fee waiver on the tipping fees for the removal of the damaged trailer.
December 8, 2006 - Jeff Parrill, President of Braden River Little League, requested in writing to Cindy Turner, permission to construct a new facility at the Braden River Park site.
June 25, 2007 - Braden River Little League, represented by the President Beth Van Vranken, entered into a Temporary Office/Storage Building Agreement to allow delivery of a 1,602 sq. ft. modular building to the site and do league business until such time as necessary infrastructural installations by the county were completed.
March 24, 2008 - The league completed their work inside of the facility and was issued their Certificate of Occupancy.
June 2009 - Property Management Department received a permit from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to up-grade the lift station serving the park and Braden River Little League’s building.
July 2009 - Lift station installation work completed.
February 2012 - Working with DEP, county staff installed methane monitoring devices per a requirement of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Summer 2012 - Parks and Recreation staff reviewed all buildings and their respective agreements to ensure the appropriate agreement had been executed per the building and its activity.
During said review, staff discovered the temporary agreement that had been in place, due to the need for the lift station.
Fall 2012 - A new agreement was drafted by the County Attorney's Office.
April 23, 2013 - The new lease agreement draft between the County and the League was forwarded to Parks and Recreation for execution by the league.
This new lease agreement now clarifies the responsibility of the League and the County regarding this building and its use. The League paid 100% of the cost of assembling the prefabricated building and retains ownership. The building has no public restrooms and the league is responsible for all of the building maintenance.
