Annual FDOT Highway Lighting Maintenance and Compensation Agreement Exhibit A Update

Action Requested
Authorize the Chairman to execute the annual Exhibit "A" to the Highway Maintenance and Compensation Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for FY 2014-2015.

Background Discussion
  • The Board of County Commissioners executed Resolution R-02-254 that approved an Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on September 17, 2002, for the operation and maintenance of the street lights located on State Highways within the unincorporated portion of Manatee County.  The agreement requires the County to operate and maintain the street lights on State Highways in compliance with the rules and standards of the FDOT in exchange for compensation to the County by a statewide formula developed by the FDOT.
  • Each year the FDOT submits a revised Exhibit "A" to the Agreement that sets forth the number of street lights and the amount of compensation due for that location under the formula for the Board's review and approval.  The previous Exhibit "A" for the current FY 2013/2014 was approved by the Board during its regular meeting on April 23, 2013, in the amount of $305,024.40.
  • Public Works Department staff members have reviewed the revisions to Exhibit "A" and have found them to be a complete and accurate listing of the street light devices operated and maintained by the County under the terms of the Agreement with FDOT. The FY 2014/2015 compensation is proposed at  $322,544.09.


Staff recommends authorization for the Chairman to execute revised Exhibit "A" for the FY 2014/2015 Highway Lighting Maintenance and Compensation Agreement.
