Enabling/Regulating Authority

Background Discussion
Employee Health Benefits contracts with an agency to provide clinical services to members of the YourChoice Health Plan.  One of those services is a Clinical Pharmacist who assists members of the plan and other clinical staff in containing costs to the County as well as engaging employees and members of the plan in health management programs.  Manatee County has the opportunity to engage the services of uncompensated LECOM Pharmacy Interns, under the supervision of the onsite Clinical Pharmacist.  This agreement with LECOM brings significant opportunity to the County in terms of additional personnel to assist with programs and initiatives and a valuable learning opportunity for the local LECOM students during their internship rotation.  EHB requests that the Board authorize the Administrator or his designee to execute the agreement and any subsequent amendments if needed.
