US 41 Pavement Upgrade Project - US 41 At Piney Point and Dock Street - Update by Joseph M. Lauk, P.E., Senior Project Manager, Florida Department of Transportation.
The project scope is to reconstruct the pavement in front of the Port of Manatee and replace the existing asphalt pavement with rigid concrete pavement. Upgrades to the intersections include bicycle keyholes at turn lanes, acceleration taper extensions, improved geometry at the intersection, and lighting. The construction will impact the existing Port of Manatee signs and thus they will be replaced. Coordination with the Port has occurred to ensure appropriate maintenance of traffic and continuous operation of both Port entrances. This project is being grouped with the adjacent resurfacing project from I-275 to the Hillsborough County Line for construction purposes.
The Project is scheduled to be Let to Bid on 6/17/2015 and construction should begin a couple of months after.
