Action Requested
Motion to approve Ordinance No. 17-42, amending Article V of Chapter 2-19 of the Manatee County Code relating to towing of vehicles.

Enabling/Regulating Authority
Home Rule Power of Manatee County, specifically Section 125.01(1), Florida Statutes.

Background Discussion
On March 3, 2016, a motion by the Commission to revisit County ordinance relative to tow truck operations carried 7-0.

The discussion of the Commission pertained to the towing of vehicles from establishments where licensed on-premise consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted and the discouragement of driving a vehicle while under the influence.

The County Attorney's Office prepared a draft Ordinance (No. 17-42) for review based on the discussion that took place at the Commission meeting on March 3, 2016.
