Purchase of General Liability Insurance for Manatee Convention and Civic Center Users

Motion to approve the purchase of the Manatee Convention and Civic Center Users general liability insurance policy for a total cost of $11,287.70, and to authorize the County Attorney or his designee to execute all related documents.
The Manatee County Convention and Civic Center purchases general liability insurance to protect against liability that might arise from events held on premises. Previously the Convention Center purchased this policy via a bid process. The annual renewal of this policy is now being handled by the Risk Management Division via the County’s insurance Broker, First Florida Insurance Brokers.
This renewal policy is being purchased through Northfield Insurance Company. The total annual premium for this renewal is $11,287.70 (inclusive of all taxes and fees), which is approximately an 11% premium increase over expiring (increase due to open claim).
The County Attorney recommends purchasing this general liability policy in the amount of $11,287.70 (inclusive of all taxes and fees). Further, the County Attorney requests authorization for him or his designee to execute all related documents.
