Authorize staff to advertise proposed No Parking Ordinance 16-37 in accordance with Florida Statute.
Florida Statute, Chapter 166.041 - Procedures for Adoption of Ordinance and Resolutions, and 316.008 - Powers of Local Authorities
The Manatee County Code Enforcement Division and the Public Works' Highway Division have requested No Parking signs be installed to restrict parking along 26th Avenue West from 22nd Street West to 26th Street West on the north side of the road to include the non paved area on the north side of the road.
Vehicles driving over and parking on this section of County Right-of-Way are causing damage to the Right-of-Way and disrupting maintenance efforts. Code Enforcement Officers have made several attempts to request owners to relocate vehicles; however, different vehicles keep parking on the Right-of-Way.
Public Works' staff has coordinated with the County Attorney's Office to draft Ordinance 16-37, No Parking on 26th Avenue West, north side of the road, from 22nd Street West to 26th Street West, to include the entire non-paved right-of-way.
Public Works staff requests authorization to advertise the proposed No Parking Ordinance 16-37.If approved, the draft ordinance will be appropriately advertised then presented at the August 23, 2016, Board meeting for public hearing and final approval.
