Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Fund Agreement - FY 2016–2017

Action Requested

Adoption of Resolution R-16-111 accepting a grant from the Florida Division of Emergency Management under the federally funded Emergency Management Performance Grant for the period of July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017, in the amount of $114,806, and authorizing the County Administrator, or his designee, to execute all related documents; and adoption of Resolution B-16-078 amending the annual budget for Manatee County, Florida, for FY 2015-16.

Background Discussion
  • This is a dollar-for-dollar federal match grant. We will use the State’s Emergency Management Preparedness and Assistance Grant for $115,806 to match it. Both grants follow the federal calendar year of July 1 through June 30.
  • EMPG will fund half of the cost for two full time Emergency Management Officers' salaries and benefits. It will also be used to complete the required scope of work items.
  • The scope of work to be accomplished includes updating the Comprehensive Management Emergency Plan, supporting emergency management training classes, development and execution of an annual EOC exercise, and public outreach presentations on emergency management subjects.
