Charlie Hunsicker, Director
Authorization for the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners to execute Florida Department of Environmental Protection Grant Agreement No. 17ME2 for the Passage Key Inlet IMP Study, and adoption of Budget Resolution B-17-052 amending the Annual Budget for Manatee County for FY 2017.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permit requires the County to provide FDEP an inlet management plan. The management plan will provide an understanding of the coastal dynamics of the Passage Key Inlet system and adjacent beaches. The project includes data collection and inlet modeling to evaluate the Passage Key channel sustainability for use as a future sand source for beach renourishement.
The FDEP Agreement No 17ME2 provides $262,356 in State funding for this project. The County's match in the amount of $87,452 has already been budgeted.
Though the County Attorney's office has made some recommendations for paragraphs 22.B and 41, FDEP cannot make those changes. Staff recommends acceptance of the agreement.
Adoption of Budget Resolution B-17-052 is requested.
