Manatee County Resolution R 15-165
On November 17, 2015, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) authorized Resolution R-15-165 creating an Animal Services Advisory Board to provide thoughtful advice and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and administration on policy or operational questions which may be referred to it from time to time. Perform such other duties as the County Commission may, from time to time, require the board to perform.
The Resolution states that the Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) shall be composed of 7 members chosen by the Board of County Commissioners from all geographical areas of the County, and wherever possible shall include representation of all segments of the population concerned with animal control and welfare.
All applicants completed the application and supplemental questions.
Only one applicant meets the criteria of "One citizen who does not fall within the foregoing categories, who is not associated with an existing rescue agency, and who, within two years prior to appointment, has adopted an animal for ASD;".
There were no applications that met the criteria of the Resolution for the seat specific to "One citizen who does not fall within the foregoing categories, who is not associated with an existing rescue agency, and who, within two years prior to appointment, has volunteered for ASD or an established private rescue agency within the County for at least ten days, as verified by the relevant agency." (See attached resolution) While applications from volunteers were received, none met the criteria of the resolution and this seat will be re-advertised.
ASAB members shall serve a term of four (4) years.
Currently David Doyens, DVM, holds the veterinarian seat. Mr. Doyens was appointed on August 21, 2012, and his term will expire on July 31, 2016.
