The Marine Paramedic Rescue program was created as a response to the increasing island need for Marine Rescue personnel and the need to provide an enhanced Paramedic presence on the island. The blending of the two professions was approved as a pilot program in 2015 and was officially rolled out September 5, 2015. The intent was to evaluate the program impact in January 2016 for the cost effective provision of emergency services for the visitors and residents of the island while enjoying their daily activities.
This program provides a unique opportunity to provide a non-transport Paramedic quick response unit that remains on the island during operational period.
