Action Requested

Authorization to waive the County Landfill tipping fees in the amount of approximately $23,790.00 by permitting the contractor for the Flamingo Bay Stormwater Discharge Maintenance Project to haul the sediment to the County Landfill to use as daily cover which will offset purchase and use of daily cover purchased annually by Landfill Operations.

Background Discussion
  • August 24, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved a Pilot Stormwater Discharge Maintenance Program.  The program objective is to clean sediment at each of the stormwater outfall pipes discharging into any public navigational channel.
  • The specs and plans for Flamingo Bay are currently in Purchasing to be advertised.  It is anticipated that approximately 390 cubic yards of sediment will be removed.  This sediment will be dewatered in order to pass the paint filter test before transporting to the Landfill.
