Efficiency in Service
On November 6, 2019, George Spoll, Town of Longboat Key Mayor, sent a letter to Manatee County Board of County Commission Chairman Stephen Jonsson. The letter outlined the efforts of the Town to proceed with a multi-year $42.5-$47.5 million plan to stabilize and re-nourish 10 miles of Gulf Coast Beaches, a portion of which is in Manatee County. The Mayor requested consideration by Manatee County to participate in funding a portion of the project that resides in Manatee County totaling up to $2.69 million.
In order to proceed with fact finding and discussion, the County Administrator and Town of Longboat Key Town Manager need to schedule several information meetings. Once fact finding has been completed, the County Administrator will report back to the Board of County Commissioners on any viable options. These meetings should take place and be completed prior to the joint meeting between the County Commission and the Town of Longboat Key Commission scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on March 26, 2020, at the Convention Center.
