RibFest Reimbursement Agreement

Action Requested
Authorization for County Administrator to execute Reimbursement Agreement with United Community Centers, Inc., for sponsorship of 2015 Gulf Coast Rhythm & Ribs Music Fest (RibFest) in an amount not to exceed $8,500; AND authorization for CVB to expend up to $1,500 to hire a third party research firm to conduct an economic impact study on the RibFest.

Background Discussion
  • August 17, 2015, the Tourist Development Council unanimously recommended approval.
  • CVB will reimburse United Community Centers Inc. up to $8,500 to promote outside of Manatee County the 2015 Gulf Coast Rhythm & Ribs Music Fest (RibFest), which is being held October 9 - 11, 2015, at McKechnie Field.
  • CVB will also hire a third party research firm to conduct an economic impact study on the RibFest, including face-to-face interviews during the event, at a cost not to exceed $1,500.
  • Total request for the RibFest initiative is not to exceed $10,000.
  • All funds involved are tourism taxes, NOT ad valorem taxes.
