Solid Waste Franchise Agreement, Unincorporated Manatee County, Collection Service Area 2
Current agreements with Waste Pro and Waste Management for solid waste, recycling, and yard waste collection provide for a seven year renewal prior to September 30, 2016. After careful consideration, staff recommended renewing the existing agreements to include proposed efficiencies to the recycling collection at no additional cost to the County. The renewal proposal was presented to the Board of County Commissioners at the June 17, 2014, Board of County Commissioners meeting where approval was given to proceed with the negotiation process with both haulers.
Comments from other waste haulers and the general public were made during the July 29, 2014, Board meeting prompting the Commissioners to pose questions and request additional information. This presentation and discussion will outline the criteria used in arriving at the recommendation to renew and will answer questions and address comments from the July 29 Board meeting.
