Manatee utilities garbage truckMANATEE COUNTY, FL (July 8, 2022) – Manatee County Utilities leaders want to remind customers that Friday’s garbage and recycling collections will happen tomorrow (Saturday, July 9, 2022).

Residents should have their items placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. and leave at the curb until 7:00 p.m. as the waste haulers will be working late to ensure that all pickups are completed.

Customers are also reminded that items must be properly prepared for them to be picked up. Some common reasons for non-collection include:

  • Not out on time - Must be placed at the curb before 6:00 a.m.
  • Large garbage can - Must be of 32-gallon capacity (garbage)
  • Too heavy - Maximum weight is 50 pounds per container (garbage)
  • Items in the recycling cart are not recyclable
  • Garbage or yard waste in your recycling cart
  • Plastic bags in recycling cart
  • Cardboard and large recyclable items packed/jammed into container
  • Placement - Cans and recycling carts must be placed within 3 feet of the curb and placed all together
  • Obstructions - Containers must be easily accessible and free of obstructions, and materials should not protrude above the top of the can

For normal collection schedules, if a pickup is missed and it isn’t because of one of the mistakes listed above, the customer should place the items out again the next morning, as haulers are beginning where they stopped the day before. Missed pickups can be reported by calling Utilities Customer Service at 941-792-8811, calling 311 or completing a 311 online form.
