MANATEE COUNTY, FL (May 16, 2023) – As Manatee County’s leaders address the issue of homelessness, a new tool has been added to assist in assessing community needs and opportunities.

The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners asked the Florida Housing Coalition to develop an actionable Roadmap to Address Homelessness. The findings of the Coalition were presented to the County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) during the March 21, 2023, meeting. This Roadmap offers Manatee County actionable and effective strategies for addressing and reducing homelessness. It reviews the current state of homelessness in the county, examines available housing and social services and offers recommendations based on community needs.

Addressing homelessness is a challenge requiring cooperation and coordination across non-profit service agencies, businesses, local government, public safety, the healthcare sector, the continuum of care and local leadership.

The Coalition will continue to partner with the County and Taskforce on implementing recommendations and reporting progress to the BOCC through December 31, 2023.
