Press Release NoticeMANATEE COUNTY, FL (October 1, 2022) – While residents continue to clear their property and take down storm shutters, Manatee County staff is conducting exhaustive damage estimates.

As of 2 p.m. Saturday, an estimated $56 million in residential damages has been documented across the county, along with $11.3 million in damage to commercial properties. But there is help at hand.

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) activated the Business Damage Assessment Survey in response to Hurricane Ian. Survey responses will allow the state to expedite Hurricane Ian recovery efforts by gathering data and assessing the needs of affected businesses.

Results from the Business Damage Assessment Survey will be shared with federal, state, and local agencies to implement appropriate relief. Businesses can complete the survey online or visit FloridaDisaster.biz and select “Hurricane Ian” from the dropdown menu. Low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are available to businesses and residents in Florida, following the announcement of a Presidential disaster declaration due to Hurricane Ian, beginning September 23.

The U.S. Small Businesses Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to small businesses and nonprofit organizations to repair or replace disaster-damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery, equipment, inventory and other businesses assets.

SBA also offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to help businesses meet working capital needs as a result of the hurricane. EIDLs are available regardless of whether the business suffered physical property damage. Apply for either loan under SBA declaration #17644.
