Track MCAT bus arrival times from your phone with new real time bus tracking app

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Sept. 20, 2019) – MCAT passengers can track the arrival time of their bus or trolly with MCAT's new MyStop app.

"The most exciting feature is the system’s ability to calculate the real-time arrival for each MCAT bus and trolley, at every bus stop in the transit system," says MCAT manager William Steele. "Bus arrival times can vary day-to-day depending upon weather, traffic conditions, and construction detours. The new information system allows MCAT passengers to make informed decisions on when to arrive at their bus stop, and that will help minimize wait time."

Getting set up is a cinch. Passengers just download the free MyStop app on a smartphone or tablet and then find the MCAT route or bus stop/station you're looking for. You can choose to receive alerts for bus arrivals at your stop before the bus arrives. QR codes at each bus stop will also give passengers the time before the bus arrives.

Once on the bus, on-board video monitors will alert passengers to the next three stops along the route so riders can easily get ready for their stop. The new onboard feature allows MCAT to provide public service announcements and information about points of interest along the bus route including libraries, shopping locations and business complexes.

Passengers can also check out the bus's whereabouts from a desktop online.

MCAT officials will give a demonstration of the new MyStop app at Tuesday's regular Board of County Commissioners meeting.
