Registration now open for 2018 Senior Games for Life

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Jan. 10, 2018) — Registration is open through Jan. 26 for the 2018 Gulf Coast Games for Life, a regional competition of amateur athletes ages 50 and older. Seniors will compete in more than a dozen sports for medals and qualifying for the 2018 Florida Senior Games State Competition.

The games will take place Feb. 10-17 around Manatee and Sarasota counties. Registration for the 29th annual event, sponsored by Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources and Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources, is available online at scgov.net/parks or by mail at:

There is a one-time registration fee of $12, which includes an event T-shirt. Each event, including the first event, costs an additional $3. Events such as bowling, golf and tennis have additional facility fees.
 
The age divisions are: 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89 and 90+.
 
The 2018 Gulf Coast Games for Life is one of the qualifying sites for the Florida Senior Games State Competition which will be Dec. 1-9, 2018, in Clearwater. 
 
Medals are awarded in the Gulf Coast Games for Life to the top three athletes in each event, for each age category as first-, second- and third-place finishers. The top five athletes in each age category qualify to compete in the Florida Senior Games State Competition.
