Manatee County accepting applications for one seat on Health Care Advisory Board

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (June 4, 2019) — Manatee County is accepting applications for one vacant seat on the Health Care Advisory Board.

Manatee County is accepting applications for a representatives of the Substance Abuse field. The Manatee County Health Care Advisory Board, a volunteer group that evaluates, monitors and discusses the healthcare system in Manatee County and makes recommendations to the Manatee County Commission regarding the funding of healthcare services in Manatee County.

Applicants should be knowledgeable about healthcare and willing to meet a minimum of eight times per year on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 5 - 7 p.m. in the 9th Floor BCC Conference Room of the County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W.

Other meetings may be scheduled as necessary. Employees, owners or voting board members of agencies that receive funding from Manatee County Government, or individuals who contract with agencies that receive County funding are ineligible to serve on the board, with the exception of a practicing physician who may receive no more than 1 percent of their gross income from County-funded healthcare.

The advisory board reviews evidence-based practices, programs and related data to enhance the long-term stability and effectiveness of the programs available to citizens of Manatee County who have no other meaningful means of access to health care.

Efforts will be made to have a Board that is reflective of the diversity of the community. Manatee County residents from minority communities, including but not limited to members from African-American and Latino/Hispanic heritage, are encouraged to apply.

Manatee County accepting applications for Historic Preservation Board

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (June 4, 2019) – Manatee County is accepting applications for two vacancies on the Historic Preservation Board, a citizen’s advisory committee that makes decisions regarding Manatee County’s archaeologically, historically and aesthetically significant sites, districts and zones.

Applicants must be registered voters in Manatee County. No particular expertise is required, but applicants with knowledge of archaeological, historical or architectural development or have deep concern for the preservation, development and enhancement of historic resources in the County are given additional consideration for an appointment.

The board works:

  • to encourage historical and archaeological preservation;
  • to identify historic buildings and sites and archaeological sites in Manatee County;
  • to encourage property owners to seek local historic landmark designation;
  • to ensure appropriate preservation, restoration, renovation, development and adaptive reuse of historical buildings and archaeological sites;
  • to develop and maintain a system of survey and inventory of historic properties.

Historic Preservation Board members cannot be employed by the County or serve as a member of another land development-related advisory board serving unincorporated Manatee County.

The Historic Preservation Board is composed of five volunteer members who are appointed by the County Commission. The group meets a minimum of four times a year in the first floor Commission Chambers of Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
