Manatee County to host final first-dose opportunity at Bennett Park, April 28, 3 - 7 p.m.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (April 22, 2021) – After vaccinating nearly 134,000 Manatee County residents over the first four months of the year, Manatee County will host its final first-dose vaccination event next week at Tom Bennett Park. Anyone ages 18 and older may come for a first-dose appointment on Wednesday, April 28 from 3 - 7 p.m.
Those who receive a first dose on April 28 will be scheduled for a second drive thru appointment at Bennett Park on Wed., May 26. Tom Bennett Park is located at 400 Cypress Creek Boulevard.
"The County-operated vaccine sites have been extremely successful and I'm proud of the teams of people who helped make Manatee County's field operation a model for the entire state to follow," said Public Safety Director Jake Saur. "But with the demand for doses declining, the Public Safety staff who have been coordinating the logistics for our drive thru operations need to turn their focus toward Hurricane Season which begins June 1."
“DOH-Manatee remains committed to vaccinating everyone who wants the COVID-19 vaccination,” said DOH-Manatee Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Bencie. “Through the drive-up operation scheduled next week and one-on-one efforts with community partners to organize closed points of dispensing, we hope to ensure the goal of getting as many people vaccinated as possible. Anyone who wants to get vaccinated can check the vaccine locator on the DOH website for many more opportunities to get vaccinated, as well.”
An estimated 161,326 Manatee County residents have been vaccinated in total. Many of those patients were vaccinated at locations that will continue to offer the vaccine into the summer
- The Department of Health in Manatee County will continue to book vaccination appointments for patients who have underlying medical conditions which make them particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. Anyone in this category must obtain a signed copy of the DOH form proving medical need from their health care provider. Vaccinations are offered at DOH-Manatee, located at 410 Sixth Avenue East in Bradenton. To book an appointment, call (941) 242-6646.
