MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Nov. 20, 2017) – Stephen King. John Grisham. Nicholas Sparks. Manatee County Library Foundation has added David Baldacci to the list of blockbuster authors continue to commit to local fundraisers benefiting the Manatee County Public Library System.

“An Evening with David Baldacci” will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Neel Performing Arts Center at 5840 26th St W, Bradenton on the campus of the State College of Florida.

Baldacci is the international best-selling author of more than 30 novels, including “Absolute Power,” “The Winner,” “Wish You Well,” “The Camel Club” and “No Man’s Land.” An astounding 110 million of his books are in print, while several have been adapted for film and television. Drawing on his experiences in law, publishing, philanthropy and fatherhood, Baldacci reflects on the twists and turns of his life a corporate lawyer-turned-one of the world’s finest storytellers.

Event Chair Jaymie Carter said proceeds from the evening will continue to benefit the Manatee Library System’s innovative “I am a Lifelong Learner” program.  "I am a Lifelong Learner" aims to improve literacy by targeting the area’s youngest readers. A Lifelong Learner Campaign Coordinator meets families at the point-of-need to offer outreach programs that develop literacy skills, add summer reading programs at public libraries and enrich parental engagement through informational programs and supplementary resources such as Early Literacy Kits, new technologies and books.

"We're honored to be asked to help," said John Horne, who is honorary co-chair of the event with wife Amanda. "We have a fabulous public library system and Lifelong Learner is a tremendous program that we need to continue funding. Anything we can do to help, we will."

“We are so excited to have David Baldacci this year," Carter said. "His passion and advocacy for literacy aligns with the reason that we are bringing him to our community, to continue the 'I am a Lifelong Learner' program provided through the Manatee County Public Library System.”

"We are grateful for the efforts of the Library Foundation for once again securing David Baldacci, another top notch author," said Ava Ehde, Manatee County Public Library Services Manager. "He is an excellent writer and humanitarian and we look forward to his visit."
