MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Nov. 13, 2018) — Manatee County residents can now find the information that’s most important to them with one click using a collection of new online applications on the County’s website.

Search your address on the new Resident Information Tool and you’ll find your trash and recycling days, commission district and representative, polling site, flood zone, local schools, nearest park, preserve library, bus stop and hospital, public safety information and much more.

The County’s new Learn Your Level - Emergency Information Center application is an interactive map that allows you to easily find your evacuation level, evacuation routes, and view the location and status of the County’s sandbag distribution sites and emergency shelters.

The newest application, which is currently being beta tested while still in development, is a Road Closures application. The tool includes an interactive map and table of current and upcoming road closures around the county, including information about the reason for the closure, the expected duration and suggested detours. Website visitors are invited to provide feedback on the new application while it is in development.

All three tools are powered by Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. In celebration of GIS Day, an annual event observed across the globe, staff from Manatee County’s GIS division will be demonstrating the new Emergency Information Center application at a local GIS Day event. The free event is open to the public and runs from noon to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the State College of Florida Collegiate School.
