Manatee County to waive, refund many building permit fees for Hurricane Irma victims

  • Oct 10, 2017

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Oct. 10, 2017) – County Commissioners today unanimously voted to waive permitting and floodplain management fees for home and business owners who sustained damages from Hurricane Irma, the severe weather event in August and any future storm event recognized by the Board of County Commissioners which happens for the remainder of 2017.

Commissioners adopted the fee waiver resolution to "assist any owner occupied residence in Manatee County dealing with storm-related repair by waiving permit fees."

Today's action is retroactive, so any storm-related permits already processed, issued and paid for will be refunded. The Manatee County Building and Development Services Department will attempt to identify those customers based on the information we have of damaged areas.

Permits must be applied for in person so the repair can be validated as storm-related.  Customers can apply at both Building and Development Services locations in downtown Bradenton on the fourth floor of the Manatee County Administration Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., and in at the North River Annex, 5030 U.S. Highway 301 North in Ellenton.
