MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Aug. 17, 2017) – County Commissioners will hold a special meeting tomorrow at 3 p.m. to discuss local public safety concerns in light of national events related to the Charlottesville rally incident.

The meeting will be held in the first floor chambers of the Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W.

This morning at a Port Authority meeting, County Commissioners urged anyone participating in next week's planned Unity March and other gatherings to remain peaceful and respectful.

Later in the afternoon, Commission Chair Betsy Benac called the meeting tomorrow for Commissioners to get an update and discuss options they can take in advance of Monday's planned events.

County Commission procedures allow the highest ranking officer to call a meeting with 24 hours notice when the person calling the meeting believes that a situation exists that requires immediate consideration or action by the Board.
