Manatee Public Safety rolls out new Parrish EMS unit next week

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (April 28, 2016) – Manatee County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will launch a new ambulance unit to serve Parrish during a public dedication ceremony Tuesday, May 3 at 9 a.m. The event will be held at the Parrish firehouse at 12132 U.S. 301 N., which is also the location where the new EMS crew will be based.

The ambulance crew serving Parrish for many years has been located at the North River Fire station in Ellenton. County Commissioners approved the new ambulance unit as part of this year’s budget, recognizing the need for EMS to improve response times in Manatee’s fastest growing area.

Public Safety Director Bob Smith and acting EMS Chief Paul DiCicco said the new unit will improve emergency response times significantly. Smith said the Parrish Fire District has been “very welcoming” and made changes at the firehouse to accommodate the new ambulance unit.

“There’s a huge benefit to having an EMS unit located with a fire department,” Smith said. “EMS and fire personnel will train, work and respond together so everything operates much more efficiently. We’ll be one step closer to getting ahead of the growth in that area.”
