Applications are being accepted for two positions on the Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board which hears cases regarding criminal nuisances on places or premises located in unincorporated areas of the county. 


The two board seats are for a two-year term beginning January 26, 2018.



The Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board is composed of five members who are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Applicants should be Manatee County residents who are interested in providing administrative oversight with authority to impose administrative fines and other non-criminal penalties in order to provide equitable, expeditious and effective method of enforcing ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Manatee County. Familiarity with the County’s Nuisance Abatement ordinance is preferable.



The board meets on the second Monday of each month on an as-needed basis at 10 a.m. in the first floor chambers of Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton.

Library Board of Trustees - Two seats

Applications for the Library Board of Trustees will be accepted until December 18, 2017.  All appointments are four-year terms. 



The Library Board is responsible for creating and recommending policy for the operation of the Library System to Manatee County Commissioners.


The openings are:

  • A representative of Manatee County at-large
  • A representative of unincorporated Manatee County


The group generally meets on the third Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Boulevard West, Bradenton

Animal Services Advisory Board - Two vacancies

Applications for the Animal Services Advisory Board will be accepted until the positions are filled.  All appointments are four-year terms. 



Applicants must be citizens who have done one of the following within the past two years:

  • Volunteered at Manatee County Animal Services or an established private rescue agency within the County for at least 10 days, as verified by the relevant agency
  • Adopted an animal from Manatee County Animal Services
 Additionally, applicants cannot be:
  • Veterinarians
  • Corporate officers of an existing governmental or non-profit organization, agency, or voluntary association within the County with a primary mission of the care, handling, or rescue of domestic animals
  • Associated with a Manatee County animal rescue agency


The advisory board meets quarterly or as determined by the advisory board at a time and location also to be determined by the advisory board.  All meetings are publicly noticed.
