This data set contains polygons representing parks, preserves and other managed lands of Manatee County, FL. The data for this layer is provided by the Manatee County Parks Dept and the Manatee County Conservation Lands Dept.
The purpose of this dataset is to maintain parks/managed lands information. Management, ownership, and address are provided where applicable. The Parks Department and the Ecosystems Administrator use this dataset most often and have their own attribute columns in the dataset. The Parks Dept has two columns including "Concurrency Inventory" and "Concurrency Mainteneance Inventory", both of which are similar but serve different purposes for the department. Another column, "county_admin", serves the purpose of the Ecosystems Administrator. When these two departments request maps, they specify which column of parks they want displayed. This method was developed because each dept does not use the same parks/managed lands as the other. In some cases, some parks/managed lands are not used in either depts needs.

Parcel layer from the Manatee County Property Appraiser's Office.
The data in this layer was (usually) copied from the parcel layer, then adjusted to the apparent park boundary (whenever a difference was discernable) using the county's latest aerial photography. The parcel depictions of these properties was found to be in error (greatest error found was 366 feet). The greatest parcel discrepancies were found in the eastern part of the county - especially Duette Park.

Parks have been created mostly by copying tax parcels to this layer and merging with other tax parcels to create complete park polygons. In some cases, right-of-way is included where it is clearly part of the park. Occasionally, a park boundary is adjusted based on current aerial photography when it is apparent that the parcel boundary does not match the extents of the park.
Polygons are usually created by copying tax parcel polygons but are sometimes heads-up digitized to park boundaries as determined on latest aerial photography. Note: This data does NOT always follow parcel boundaries.

This layer contains 12 attributes that have to do with parks, conservation areas, and preserves. Ownership, management, zipcode, and address are just a few of the fields pertaining to the parks dataset. The only fields that are strictly used for internal use within the county are conc_inventory, conc_m_inventory, and county_admin. The conc_inventory and conc_m_inventory are used by the parks department to fullfill certain criteria, while the county_admin field is used for the ecosystems administrator's criteria.
Note that the PLC attribute equates to the MUN attribute in most other feature classes.
