Although Manatee County GIS strives to include every building which might be large enough to warrant a street address, itentification of buildings from features on aerial photographs becomes problematic in heavily wooded areas. Therefore, coverage in those areas may be incomplete. A general rule of thumb used in the digitization of this data is to ignore anything below about 50 square feet (although the current data has many of those smaller structures). The reason is that it is very difficult to distinguish between a small shed (which may actually be very mobile) and a dumpster. In addition, semi trailers are not usually digitized, even though they may not have moved in years. They are not considered addressable structures unless they are either mobile homes (many of which are digitized) or construction trailers (most of which are not digitized). Many RVs (in RV parks) were originally digitized, but are deleted when it is obvious from the latest aerial photographs that the RV has been moved. As a result, RV parks will eventually not be represented in this data. Permanent mobile homes, on the other hand, are usually included, although it is difficult to keep up with the voluminous changes to their rooflines each year.
