Rates for Trash, Water & Sewer

Example of a typical monthly water/sewer/garbage bill for single family residential customers 2018:

Your monthly water and sewer charges are composed of two parts:  the Base Charge and the Quantity Charge. The base charge and quantity charge for each category are shown separately on the monthly bill.

Water and Sewer Base Charge Rates

The Base Charge for water and wastewater is a fixed charge and is determined by meter size and/or number of units. It covers the cost of services that must be provided regardless of usage, such as Meter Reading, Billing and Customer Service, as well as fixed costs at the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.

Water & Sewer Quantity Charge Rates

Potable Water Quantity Charge

The Potable Water Quantity Charge applies to the amount of water used per month and is expressed in thousands of gallons (kgal). This charge covers the cost of operating the potable water distribution system and variable costs at the Water Treatment Plant, such as chemicals and electricity.

Wastewater (Sewer) Quantity Charge

The Wastewater (Sewer) Quantity Charge is based on 100% of water usage, and the maximum monthly wastewater charge for residential individually metered customers is capped at 10,000 gallons of potable water consumption. This charge covers the cost of operating the wastewater collection system and variable costs at the three Wastewater Treatment Plants, such as chemicals and electricity. 

Residential and Non-Residential – Individual Meters: $5.03

  • Retail is billed at 100% of water consumption
  • Residential individually metered customers are capped at 10,000 gallons/month

Reclaimed Water Rates

Agricultural facilities including nurseries: 11 cents

Large recreational facilities and golf courses: 21 cents

Governmental facilities including schools: 36 cents

Large commercial, industrial and utility facilities (greater than 500,000 gallons/day): 36 cents

Residential and commercial common areas: 36 cents

Master metered residential and commercial: 36 cents

Individual metered residential, commercial and industrial: 89 cents

Solid Waste (Garbage) Rates

Waste Management and Waste Pro provide solid waste and recycling services to unincorporated Manatee County.  Their franchise agreement covers the pickup and removal of solid waste, yard waste and recyclable materials.

Standard Residential Service* Monthly Rate

Standard curbside solid waste collection: $14.33, includes:

  • Curbside solid waste (pickup twice a week) @ $8.07/month
  • Curbside recyclable materials (pickup once a week) @ $3.11/month
  • Curbside yard waste (pickup once a week) @ $3.15/month

*Containers must be 32 gallons or less and may not weigh more than 50 lbs.

Standard non-curbside solid waste collection (including curbside recycling and curbside yard waste): $32.98

Standard multi-family recyclable materials collection: $3.11

Non-Standard Service

  • White goods / appliances: $31.39/item
  • Waste tires collection – more than two  tires: $19.13/event
  • E-scrap collection: $19.13/event
  • Extraordinary services: $38.25/event

Commercial Service Rate

  • Commercial can – 32 gallons and smaller (twice weekly): $20.19 can/month
  • Bulk Collection (per pickup): $21.03/cubic yard

Facility Investment Fee Schedule

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 153.31801 of the Florida Statutes, that the adoption by the Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County, Florida, of Ordinance 19-22 on June 18, 2019, amended the Facility Investment Fees currently levied by Manatee County as noted below, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
