Pet Policies

All parks allow dogs on-leash. Dogs are not allowed at County beaches (including adjacent sidewalks, paths, trails, and RV and general parking areas), athletic fields, areas posted "no dogs allowed", or the following preserves: Leffis Key, Moody Branch, Neal, and Perico.

Horses are allowed on designated trails at the following preserves: Duette (outside of Hunt weekends), Headwaters at Duette, Moody Branch, and Rye. Horses are not provided. Proof of a negative Coggins Test must be available upon request for each horse. Designated horse staging areas are provided.

Use a leash

Public safety law - all dogs in Manatee County's parks and preserves (where allowed) must be held on a leash at all times. Please keep your pets under control.

Scoop that Poop

Always clean up after your dog or horse. Remember to dispose of droppings appropriately in trash cans.

Stay on the Trail

All of Manatee County's conservation lands (preserves) have marked trails. Please stay on the trails - dogs, horses, bicycles and people off-trail can damage valuable habitat.

Keep it Cool

It can get hot in the parks and preserves and not all trails have shade. Make sure you bring water for your dog or horse before hitting the trails.
