Manatee Seed BankIf you’re interested in gardening and don’t have access to a local source of good quality seeds, then join the Manatee Seed Bank!  We provide Manatee County gardeners with access to regional vegetable varieties, native wildflower seeds, and FREE education!

This Community Garden Program project  will be a collaborative effort between UF/IFAS Manatee Extension and members of the public.  As a cooperative effort, our mission is to cultivate, produce, and distribute high-quality, regionally adapted varieties of vegetables, fruits, grains, and native wildflowers.  We will, however, not be accepting or cultivating any invasive, hybrid, or trademarked plants.

To become a member of the Manatee Seed Bank, members of the public can stop by the Extension office at 1303 17th Street West in Palmetto or contact Mack Lessig at mlessig@ufl.edu or by phone (941) 722-4524 ext. 1821.  We will begin our production efforts in late August, at which time, members will be given their first series of seeds.

This project can be both delicious and educational, so members are encouraged to consume their produce but, at the same time, encouraged to save seeds for the Seed Bank.  The program will launch August 2018 - join today!  Spread the word - download your copy of the Manatee Seed Bank flyer here.
