Memorial Day Observances in Manatee and surrounding counties include the following:

Mansion Memorial Fallen Veterans Graves’ Flag Placement
American Legion Post 325 (Ellenton) will be placing Flags on Fallen Veterans graves

Breakfast for the volunteers will follow at American Legion Post 325 (a non-Smoking facility; masks are optional; indoor outdoor seating available). Contact American Legion Post 325, Ellenton, at (941) 981-3819, with any questions. 

SRQ Vets Memorial 5K Hike
Saturday, May 29, 9 AM (registration starts at 8 AM)
This is the Sixth Annual Memorial Day 5K hike to honor the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and unite the local veterans and civilian communities while raising funds to support SRQ VETS and their efforts to help the local veterans. The hike will start at JD Hamel War Memorial Park and cross the Ringling Bridge and back. There also will be a BBQ picnic, music, rock wall, bungie jumping and raffles. For more information, contact

The Manatee County Veterans Council's Memorial Day Service
Monday, May 31, 2021, 9 AM
Veterans Park (located across the street from Bradenton Riverwalk, behind Manatee Memorial Hospital).

Guest speaker will be BG Richard Blunt, USA (Retired). The Korean War Honor Guard will present the colors. There will NOT be a tent with chairs and water as there has been in the past due to COVID-19. The program will be televised by METV later in the day.

City of Anna Maria Island's Patriotic Symphony Salute
Monday, May 31, 10 to 11:30 AM
City Pier Park 

The ceremony will open with a Marine Corps color guard and drummer marching from Roser Memorial Community Church to the City Pier Park flagpole for the presentation of the colors and the placement of a memorial wreath. Mayor Dan Murphy will recognize the attending members according to the military branch in which they served. AMI Concert Chorus & Orchestra will perform (Source: AMI Sun)

Bay Pines VA’s 2021 Virtual Memorial Day Observance
Monday, May 31, 10 to 11 AM

The program will feature a keynote address from Major General Patrick D. Frank, United States Central Command Chief of Staff, a ceremonial wreath placement and music from the Keswick Christian School Band and Choir. No in-person attendance permitted due to COVID. Watch the event on Facebook
