Homeless man holding a sign, showing the date of the stand down eventAmnesty Court is among the wide range of services being offered at JFCS of the Suncoast’s annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down Event. From 8 AM to Noon on Saturday, June 26, at the Sarasota Fairgrounds/Robarts Sports Arena, US Armed Forces Veterans living in Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties can attend Amnesty Court to receive assistance with:

  • Unpaid court fees and fines (on closed cases)

  • Unpaid traffic fees and fines

  • Driver’s License Assistance
Legal Aid of Manasota will be present to educate and assist with civil case questions.

Registration is not required but encouraged (can register up to 11:30 AM on event day). People can also register by calling Alba Silva, 941-373-5404. Event organizers ask that Veterans bring a form of ID: DD214, Driver’s License or VA card if they have.

A wide range of other services will also be available, including medical checkups, benefit reviews, counseling and substance-abuse referrals, housing assistance, employment services, shower facilities, haircuts and manicures.

Care packages, including clothing, boots, socks, personal-care items, first-aid kits and food will be available.

Sarasota Fairgrounds is located at 3000 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota 34237. The court will be held at the Potter Building.

The Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) and the Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) are providing free transportation to veterans with valid ID.

JFCS partners with over 25 community organizations in the Manasota area to provide direct support to more than 100 homeless veterans.
